“Neighbors helping neighbors” in response to an emergency

This 90-page (PDF) document provides information for use in community emergency response training.

No matter where you live, natural disasters create emergency situations. Some are “minor” but others may be “major” or even “catastrophic”. How well you respond depends on how well prepared you are. In a “major” or “catastrophic” emergencies your municipal and country governments may not have enough resources to get to you for several days. Potentially without electricity, gas, water, cell service, internet access and even shelter, you and your neighbors will need to support each other so that all of you can survive the challenges you face.

Editor’s Note

During a recent winter storm emergency our neighbors in our apartment building met in the courtyard and made sure everyone was safe and their immediate needs addressed. We did have electricity, but no one could drive to the main road for several days.
