
Steve and Dusty live in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon. They have six grown children and 13 grandchildren.
Starting in 2002, Steve and Dusty hosted over 30,000 guests in a historic Victorian bed & breakfast in central Portland, Oregon. Their B&B had 8 guest rooms and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and top-rated on Trip Adviser. In April 2020 the couple was forced to close the Lion and the Rose B&B due to Covid-19 which led to the sale of the property in 2021.
Steve graduated from Yale University (Class of 1972) with a special major in Humanistic Psychology. Steve also earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Keller Graduate School (1977). Prior to becoming an innkeeper in 2002, Steve worked as a social worker, an office systems analyst, and in software product marketing in Silicon Valley. Steve has a strong interest in humanistic psychology and meditation.
Dusty did coursework at Brigham Young University and was drafted to fight in the Viet Nam War. Prior to becoming an innkeeper, he worked in special education, as an entrepreneur, and in education and hospital administration. Dusty has a special love of theater.
